Common Questions?

Wont the cameramen be obtrusive and disruptive?

I have heard horror stories of bright lights during the ceremony and videographers stepping right up between the minister and the couple. We make every effort to record your wedding unobtrusively and tastefully, using no lights at the ceremony, remaining stationary and silent throughout, and using a documentary style in all of our taping.

How should I choose a videographer?
Its a fact of life that price plays a key role in determining your selection of professionals, and there is a photographer and videographer for every budget. Once you determine your spending limit, then you can begin to evaluate your professionals for quality, experience and compatibility. A professional digital 3-chip camera is a must if you are to get true broadcast quality. Some companies use 2 cameras, lighting equipment, large extension microphones etc that can make your wedding look more like a television studio than a romantic wedding. We use a single video camera with one operator and are usually so discreet; you hardly know we are there.
Will my photographer and a videographer work together?

Wedding videography is relatively new, only coming into its own in the past ten years. Wedding photography, on the other hand, has been around for almost 1- centuries! Generally, photographers and videographers get along just fine.
What if my church has restrictions on video?
It is the clients responsibility to find out if there are any restrictions on photography and videography wherever the event takes place and to notify us well in advance. Many churches and synagogues have guidelines, such as no flash photography and no moving around during the ceremony, and understandably so. The place of worship is not a television studio. Most celebrants realise the importance of video to the bride and groom and their respective families.

Why should we have our wedding videotaped?
There is nothing like a professionally made videotape to capture all the sights and sounds of your wedding day, an event that has become one of the major social events in a persons life. What better opportunity to capture all of your family and friends and create a classic heirloom to be cherished for years to come. Many times people ask, "Why should I bother having my wedding videotaped?" - "I'm going to have my photo album to look at." The answer to this is very simple: How much would it be worth to you to see a film of your parents' wedding? If you had a choice between seeing pictures of your parents' wedding, or actually seeing what your parents were doing during their wedding day, and hearing their voices again from a bygone time, which one would you choose?
Your wedding Without Video:
The Groom will never see those precious moments during the Brides preparation with her friends and family.
The Bride will never see the anticipation of the Groom as he awaits her arrival at the ceremony site.
The Groom will never see the Bride arrive at the ceremony site.
The Bride will plan her entire processional and never get to see it, because she is the last one down the aisle.
You will never get to share the special moments of your vows, or the excitement and fun of your Wedding reception with your children and grand children and relive (the day) on those for coming wedding anniversaries.
Why use R.T DIGITAL VIDEO PRODUCTIONS?
With our experience, digital cameras, and the latest professional editing equipment, you, your family and friends will be able to relive those precious moments for many years to come. We are very proud of our latest digital video cameras, which are smaller, and therefore less intrusive, the quality of the footage is simply stunning. We have back up cameras and equipment in the unforseeable event that we have a system failure.

Can a friend or family member videotape our wedding?

Certainly, but dont expect professional results. We have been taping weddings since 1997, and we know the ins and outs of capturing such an important event. We have professional 3-chip cameras, titling, special effects generators, computer-based digital non-linear editing equipment, professional microphones, tripods, and plenty of backup equipment to create a true television production. We have no problem with other guests videotaping as long as they do not interfere with our efforts.
What do you videotape?

We typically begin a wedding day with a visit to the bride's home or other location where preparations are being made. Some of our most emotional and special shots have been made as the bride and her attendants are getting ready. We spend anywhere from 5 to 12 hours covering one wedding, but 7 hours is usually sufficient to get complete coverage of an average wedding.
Usually this will cover the following:
Bridal preparation before the wedding (Optional Extra)
Guests arriving at the wedding
Wedding service
Signing of the register
Guests mingling & congratulations
Family photos and bridal party photos
Reception mingling
Cutting of the wedding cake
Speeches
This is an example of the average scenes we cover in a wedding however we are there to serve you on your day and are very flexible.
Will you attend the rehearsal?

We usually will attend the rehearsal. To see the layout, lighting of the church and introduce ourselves to the Minister or Celebrant. When you come to us for your final pre-wedding interview (about 1 month prior to the event), we will go over all the details with you.
What should I look for in professional videotape?
The picture and sound should be crystal clear. The titles should look professional and be easily read. The production should be tightly and tastefully edited, making the tape more enjoyable to watch than real time raw footage. Special effects should be enhancements to the production and not appear "gimmicky".
How long will the finished tape be?

On average we like to edit a complete production down to between 60 to 90 minutes.
Can I make copies of my wedding video?

You are free to make copies of your videotape for friends and family however we would prefer that you order the videotape from us as our quality is paramount to our reputation for a true reproduction.
DVDs?

Yes we can offer your Wedding footage on DVD to be played on your home DVD player (tell us first what type of player you own). Your home computer will play all formats.

What about Digital Pictures?
We can supply on a computer disk MPEG pictures (up to 6million pixels) photos of your wedding captured by the video camera plus a still digital camera to be shared on the Internet or to be printed straight from your computer.
What about those obtrusive interviews?

We do not go around putting people on the spot to "say something for the bride and groom". Rather, we usually get the Bride and Groom to introduce us to their guests and ask them for any comments or wishes for the couple. Be sure to let us know if you want interviews or not
Is there an alternative?
Yes - we have two professional edit suites where we can edit your friends' DV footage. Bear in mind, it takes us several hours to review and edit any wedding, especially if there are hours of tapes to go through. Most domestic camera footage will not accept music simultaneously with raw sound, as our professional cameras do, without 'dropping a generation' in quality.
Highlights on (VHS and DVD)
An optional extra is a 'Highlights' tape (approximately twenty minutes long). This can be shown to friends who do not have time to watch the whole wedding video. This touches on the preparations, arrival at the ceremony, the vows, exchanging of rings, first congratulations, photographic session and a quick review of speakers at the reception..
Special Occasions
There are many occasions that hold special memories, which we can capture on video that will bring hours of pleasure in the future.
